Our goal is simple: provide practical guidance, trusted educational resources, and comfort-focused solutions that make recovery a little easier every day.
Our Founder's Story
RecoveryRx-Orthopedics was founded by Annette de Lancey, an accidental entrepreneur and lifelong problem solver.
The journey began when her daughter Elli was 10 years old and suffered what would become her sixth broken bone.
Yes—her sixth broken bone before age ten.
This time Elli had fractured her humerus, the large bone in the upper arm. Beyond the pain and inconvenience of another injury, she felt frustrated and betrayed by her own body. To make matters worse, the cast she had to wear felt uncomfortable and unattractive.
As a mother, Annette wanted to do something to help.
She found colorful stretchy fabric, added bright patterns and sparkles, and created a simple cover that fit over the cast. What started as a way to help her daughter feel more like herself quickly became something special.
Elli loved it.
As the holidays approached, Annette made seasonal versions for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Then something unexpected happened.
People began stopping them at coffee shops, in stores, and on the street to ask about the colorful cast covers.
That's when Annette realized she wasn't solving a problem for just one child.
She was solving a problem for countless patients who wanted comfort, confidence, and dignity during recovery.
What started at a kitchen table eventually became CastCoverz!, a company dedicated to helping orthopedic patients feel better physically and emotionally while they heal.
More Than a Business—A Lifetime of Orthopedic Experience
Elli's orthopedic journey didn't end with that first cast cover.
Over the years, she went on to break more than 30 bones.
Before the age of three, she was even tested for brittle bone disease because of the frequency of her injuries. The tests came back negative.
Today, Elli is a healthy adult, a mother, and a business owner herself.
Those decades of firsthand experience navigating casts, splints, braces, surgeries, and recovery challenges helped shape the knowledge and patient-centered perspective that continues to guide today.

After helping orthopedic patients for more than 17 years through CastCoverz!, one thing became clear:

The first CastCoverz! cast cover is created at home after Elli breaks her humerus.
2007–Present
CastCoverz! serves thousands of orthopedic patients recovering from fractures, surgeries, sports injuries, and other orthopedic conditions.
2026
RecoveryRx-Orthopedics launches to provide trusted recovery education and practical guidance for patients navigating life with casts, braces, slings, crutches, and walking boots.
